IFA 2013 Wrap Up

Toshiba Encore: a Pocket-sized 8 inch Windows Tablet

Asus Announces New Transformer Pad TF701T

As a recall, back to Computex 2013 last June, Asus announced the upgraded version of its flagship Android transformer series tablet - the New Asus Transformer Pad Infinity. At that time, only a few specifications about the tablet was unveiled such as an upgraded processor and screen resolution.


At IFA 2013, Berlin, Asus announced the new Transformer Pad again. Fortunately, this time the company announced with the full specifications of the tablet.

The new flagship tablet - Transformer Pad TF701T, is a 10.1 inch Android tablet with a stunning 2560 x 1600 IPS ultra-high resolution display , the latest high performance Nvidia Tegra 4 Quad-core processor and a lightweight Mobile Dock with USB 3.0 (upgraded from 1920 x 1080 FHD display and Tegra 3 Quad-core processor from its predecessor - Transformer Pad Infinity TF700T).

Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 - 2014 Edition


Yesterday, Samsung shows off its Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition alongside with its flagship phablet Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Gear smartwatch. The new tablet, sharing the new design language as the Galaxy Note 3 at a larger size measured at 10.1 inch.


On the back of the device spots the same "leather-like" material that is a soft and textured-touch back cover. At the rear top left corner, there is a improved S Pen with enhanced features found in the Galaxy Note 3. Besides that, is an 8 MP rear camera with BSI and Auto-focus and a LED flash below it.

Asus Annonuced Fonepad 7, MeMo Pad 8 and MeMo Pad 10 At IFA 2013


Asus at IFA 2013, announced the Fonepad 7, a 7 inch device that combines both smartphone and tablet functions into a piece of hardware which having a full telephony function with a tablet sized display.

This is the refreshed version of its original 7 inch Fonepad, which has a new non-slip finish and faster HSPA+ 3G with up to 42 Mbit/s download speeds, and dual front speakers with Asus SonicMaster audio technology.

Fonepad 7 spots an Intel Atom Z2560 processor with Hyper Threading technology that enhanced the multitasking performance. Running on Android 4.2, 7 inch 1280 x 800 resolution with IPS technology, an upgraded 5 MP rear camera (3.2 MP on the previous generation), 1.2 MP front camera, and has a 3.950 mAh battery on board. Internal storage of 8 GB, 16 GB or 32 GB and expandable via MicroHDSC card.

UPDATE: Asus FonePad 7 is now available and selling at RM999 (16 GB) and RM749 (8 GB).

The Samsung Galaxy Gear Smartwatch


The Galaxy Gear smartwatch is the Samsung's first-ever wearable device, announced alongside with Galaxy Note 3 at the Samsung Unpacked event at IFA. The Galaxy Gear enhanced the users experience by connected with their Galaxy smartphone all the time to experience new mobile communications freedoms.

Which mean, without having to take out your phone from pocket, you will get all the notifications of incoming messages, calls, emails and alerts by looking at the display of the Galaxy Gear.

It packed a 1.63 inch AMOLED touchscreen display with 320 x 320 resolution, a build in 1.9 MP camera, powered by a 800 MHz processor, 512 MB of RAM,  4 GB of storage and a 315 mAh battery.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3



The original Galaxy Note was announced at the IFA 2011 in Berlin, the South Korean company Samsung Electronics, introduced a phablet with a large screen size of 5.3 inch with a stylus pen called S Pen. A year later, 2012 at the Berlin Radio Show, Samsung announced the successor to the original Galaxy Note which was called the Galaxy Note II. Featuring a bigger 5.55 inch screen than its predecessor and S Pen too.

And now, the third generation of Galaxy Note had arrived - the Galaxy Note 3. It was introduced on September 4, 2013 at Samsung Unpacked at IFA in Berlin. The Note 3 features a even larger screen at 5.68 inch and a new S Pen.

Sony Xperia Z1 Goes Official at Sony IFA Press Conference


Today at Berlin in Sony IFA Press Conference, Sony announces many new products including the cameras, TVs, audio and mobile. The phone that we had long awaited finally arrive, the codenamed Honami device goes official, to be called Sony Xperia Z1.

The new Sony flagship phone Xperia Z1, combine the best of Sony and "One" Sony concept to deliver the best experience to the consumers. The Xperia Z1 featuress Sony's G lens in the camera, with 20.7 MP, 1/2.3 inch sensor size, BIONZ image processor and a Sony Exmor RS sensor. It can take picture with up to 3x zoom zero loss of clarity.

The Sony Xperia Z1 powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 Quad-core processor, a 5 inch Full HD 1080p with Triluminos display and X-Reality for mobile, water resistant and a aluminium body with tempered glass. Running on Android 4.3 with Sony customize UI and a 3000 mAh battery on board.

Alcatel Unveils One Touch Hero & One Touch Idol Alpha


Alcatel One Touch Hero is a phablet with 6 inch Full HD 1920 x 1080 IPS display. The giant smartphone is powered by 1.5 GHz Quad-core MediaTek MT6589+ processor with 2 GB of RAM.

Comes with a standard 13 MP main camera, 2 MP front facing camera and 8 GB or 16 GB of internal memory. A large 3400 mAh battery to keep the phone last longer and a company's very own stylus along.

You can have a second display with the E Ink cover. Reading newspapers and magazines on the E Ink display saving even more battery of the phone. MagicFlip is another cover with the embedded LED that shows all the notifications. Other accessories are a companion Bluetooth phone and Pico Projector.

Sony “Lens-camera” Specs and Promo Video Leak

Less than a day before Sony unveils its flagship smartphone codenamed Honami, the Xperia Z1 and the rumored attachable lens which called the “Lens-camera”. A new promo video and full specs of the “Lens-camera” has been leaked.


The video shows the features of the “Lens-camera” such as one-touch connectivity between the lens and smartphone, launching the PlayMemories Mobile app, touch auto-focus, manual control, edit and share photos using apps.

The pricing of the new Cyber-shot QX100 and QX10 lens-style cameras will be $500 and $250 respectively, will be released later this month.

The Cyber-shot QX100 camera features a premium, high-quality 1.0 inch, 20.2 MP Exmor R™ CMOS sensor, identical to the one found in Cyber-shot RX100 II camera. Featuring a fast, wide-aperture Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T lens with 3.6x optical zoom and a powerful BIONZ image processor. It also spots a dedicated control ring for manual focus and zoom.

The Cyber-shot QX10 camera is a high-zoom, powerful 18.2 MP Exmor R™ CMOS sensor with 10x optical zoom Sony G Lens. It has built-in Optical SteadyShot and will be available in two different colors – black and white.

Acer Unveils 24 inch Android All-In-One Device and 3 New All-In-One Desktop


After Acer announced their first 4K recording smartphone, the Liqiud S2 phablet and the new Iconia A3 tablet, with the size of the 6" and 10.1" respectively doesn't satisfy your need for a big screen Android device. Acer Announces Liquid S2 Smartphone and Iconia A3 Tablet

Here another smartphone manufacture made a kick off IFA 2013, with the announcement of Liquid S2, Acer's first 4K recording smartphone and the 10.1 inch Iconia A3 Android tablet.


The Liquid S2 is a 6 inch phablet with 4K recording capability. The phablet comes with a 6 inch Full HD 1920 x 1080 resolution, IPS technology, Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and reaching a high density of 368 pixel per inch (PPI).

The Liquid S2 packs a 13 MP auto focus BSI camera, with a unique LED ring flash around the camera lens and have the ability to record 4K Ultra HD, fast full HD 60 fps, 4x slow motion and up to 27 MP full panorama pictures. The Quick First Shot feature allows user to take picture right from the unlock screen.

The Samsung Galaxy Smartwatch Prototype Leaked

Only a just few days left for the major trade show to take place at the IFA 2013 in Berlin. More and more rumors are appeared and leaked on the Internet. This round is the leaked photos of the Samsung Galaxy Smartwatch prototype.


The Samsung Galaxy Gear Smartwatch is scheduled to unveiled at the IFA 2013 and Samsung Unpacked Event. Looks like someone at the VentureBeat had a chance to spend some time hands on with the smartwatch.

The prototype spots a 3 inch high quality OLED display with a square screen, the screen resolution wasn't disclose. There is a big bezel at the top and bottom of the smartwatch which looks bulky.

LG Unveils G Pad 8.3 Tablet Ahead of IFA 2013


LG Electronic (LG) had just announced the LG G Pad 8.3 tablet ahead of the IFA 2013. The Korean company can't wait to showing off its much-rumored G Pad 8.3 tablet and it is set to officially debut at the IFA 2013 trade show in Berlin.

The brand new LG G Pad 8.3 is the latest addition to its G Series lineup of premium mobile devices. The company added that, “the LG G Pad 8.3 builds on the recent launch of the LG G2 superphone, reinforcing LG's commitment to leadership in advanced mobile devices through its premium G Series products.”

The LG G Pad 8.3 is the first 8 inch class with Full HD display. As the name implies, it's an Android 4.2 tablet which featuring an 8.3 inch display with 1920 x 1200 WUXGA (Widescreen Ultra Extended Graphics Array) resolution.

IFA 2013: What to Excited about?

As the date coming closer to September 6, we are seeing more and more rumors and teaser about what's coming at the IFA 2013. It is about the time to get excited as only 7 days left to the largest consumer electronics fair where unveiling the latest technological developments.

So, what to excited about IFA 2013?

Firstly, the long rumored Sony Xperia Honami, a.k.a Sony Xperia Z One. The cameraphone from Sony to rivals with the Nokia Lumia 1020 41 MP PureView - Zoom Reinvented (super high resolution, which let you zoom in close to your shot after you've taken it) and the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom 16 MP with 10x optical zoom.

The Xperia Honami will features a 20.7 MP G Lens camera with 1/2.3 inch sensor rather than the previously rumored 1/1.6 inch. The others rumored specs are a 5 inch Full HD 1920 x 1080 display, 2.2 GHz Quad-core Snapdragon 800 CPU, Adreno 330 GPU, 2 GB RAM, 16 GB internal storage, water and dust resistant, and a 3000 mAh battery. To be available in 3 colors: Black, Purple and White.

Samsung Galaxy Note III and Galaxy Gear Smartwatch

Samsung is ready for their Unpacked 2013 Episode 2 event on September 4, 2013 at IFA in Berlin. Recently at Samsung Mobile, they had changed their cover photo and posting a photo with words “In Times Square NYC with Samsung Mobile USA, counting down the days until #UNPACKED in Berlin. Will you be watching?”



What can we expect for the Samsung Unpacked event, of course its their second half of 2013 flagship smartphone, the third generation of Samsung Galaxy Note series - the Galaxy Note III.

The Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Gear Smartwatch will be debuts at the Samsung Unpacked event, and these has been confirmed by the Samsung Mobile's executive vice president, Lee Young-hee.

More Leak Images of Sony Xperia Honami

Just less than a week before the IFA 2013 take place in Berlin. Few days ago, Sony released the official teaser about their upcoming flagship smartphone - the Sony Xperia Honami or Z One. Now, more leak images of the Honami popped up on a Chinese website, 356dian.com.


The image shown above is a dummy model with the label of ‘Xperia Z1 L39h’ on the front screen. These leak images showing almost all angle of the Sony Xperia Honami from front, back, top, bottom and left right of the phone. Giving us a clear idea of the phone that has the similar design language as the Sony Xperia Z.


Unlike the recent Sony teasers, at the back of the phone has the camera spec label beside the camera lens. With a G Lens branding at top with a label of 1/2.3 inch and 20.7 MP resolution below it. This is something extra from what we had seen from the Sony.

Teaser: Sony Upcoming Xperia Smartphone


Starting from last week, August 22, Sony has released its first teaser about upcoming Xperia smartphone, to be unveil on September 4 at IFA 2013 in Berlin. The picture shows off a power button recognized as the current lineup Xperia smartphone design language with a hashtag of #bestofSony. Sony Mobile wrote “Its the smartphone everyone's been talking about... not long now #bestofSony”

Would it be the Sony i1 Honami / Z One that created buzz on the Internet over the pass few months? What else could it be other than the long rumored cameraphone from Sony that everyone has been discussing about?
