Jolla Debuts the Jolla Tablet with Crowdsourced and Powered by Sailfish OS 2.0


Jolla, the mobile company from Finland  announced their first product, Jolla Smartphone one year ago and now they are introducing the Jolla Tablet - a crowdfunding project on Indiegogo, targeted at $380,000 goal.

The campaign started on 19 November 2014 and just hours into the campaign, Jolla have successfully reached their goal at $380,000 and they has now raised over a million funding in less than 48 hours.

Nokia Comeback with the N1, the Company's First Android Tablet


Nokia the once top notch brand, have something new and surprise for its loyalty brand consumers - Nokia revealed the N1 Android tablet, their first brand-licensed product. As a Nokia fans, we were glad and excited too see the Nokia brand return.

In fact, the N1 is not manufactured and distributed by Nokia. Foxconn is. However, the N1's hardware and software is designed and written by Nokia. The N1 runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop with Nokia's Z launcher.

This is the Android-based Nokia X2 By Microsoft, the Successor to Nokia X


Not too long ago, Nokia launched the company's first ever Android-based smartphone: the Nokia X family of devices. Recently, Microsoft Mobile has announced the next generation Nokia X, welcome the Nokia X2.

The Nokia X2 runs on Nokia X software platform 2.0 with enhanced hardware and software. It's now equipped with a 4.3 inch 480 x 800 ClearBlack LCD display, powered by a Dual-core 1.2 GHz Snapdragon 200 CPU and paired with 1 GB of RAM.

The Nokia Lumia 930 is the New Flagship Smartphone with Windows Phone 8.1


Back in MWC 2014 that happened on February in Barcelona, Nokia showed off three new smartphone under the Nokia X family and non of them are Windows Phone based device. Finally, Nokia had debuted the new Lumia 930 at the Microsoft Build Developer Conference, new flagship to the Lumia range smartphone.

Basically, the Lumia 930 is the global version of the Lumia Icon which was an exclusive model released for a US-based telecommunications company, Verizon. Interestingly enough, the Lumia 930 can also be considered as a smaller version of the Lumia 1520 since they share the similar hardware.

Nokia Launches X Family Smartphones Which Run Android Apps


Nokia officially announced the so called "Nokia Android" phone, formally known as Nokia X - available in three variants: the Nokia X, X+ and XL. The Nokia X family features the company's design, quality, services and inspired by Lumia and Asha family.

The Nokia X family of smartphones run on the Nokia X software platform, which is based on the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) and backed by Nokia with Microsoft service and signature Nokia experiences. Nokia also claims that the Nokia X can runs approximately 75% of Android apps without any modifications and they are ready to published in the Nokia store.

Nokia Announces the Lumia 525 - A New Budget Windows Phone 8


Nokia introduced a new budget Windows Phone 8 to its entry-level Lumia smartphone, the Lumia 525. This device is the successor to the popular Lumia 520, the 525 also comes with swappable back covers (available in white, orange and yellow).

Just like its predecessor, the Lumia 525 featuring a 4 inch 800 x 480 IPS LCD display, 5 MP rear camera, 8 GB internal storage and a microSD card slot. It's powered by a Snapdragon S4 Dual-core 1 GHz processor and doubling up the RAM inside to 1 GB. The extra memory allows more apps to run at the same time.

Nokia First Windows Tablet, the Nokia Lumia 2520


The company has finally revealed their first Windows tablet, the Nokia Lumia 2520. The Lumia 2520 spots a 10.1 inch Full HD 1920 x 1080 screen with ClearBlack display technology and protected by Gorilla Glass 2.

The design language of the tablet reminiscent the unibody polycarbonate design found in the Lumia lineup smartphone. The Lumia 2520 powered is by the Snapdragon 800 Quad-core 2.2 GHz processor, 2 GB of RAM, 32 GB of internal storage and a microSD card slot expandable memory up to 32 GB.

Nokia Lumia 1520 is Officially Announces: a 6 inch Full HD Display Windows Phone


Here it is, the long rumored Nokia Lumia 1520 has been announced at Nokia World 2013 in Abu Dhabi. This is the first ever Nokia's flagship phablet with 6 inch Full HD display and running on Windows Phone 8 with the latest GDR 3 update. The beautiful 6 inch screen comes with ClearBlack display technology and protected by Gorilla Glass 2.

Under the hood, there is a powerful Qualcomm processor - a 2.2 GHz Quad-core Snapdragon 800 SoC paired with 2 GB of RAM. On the rear of the phone, you will find a high resolution 20 MP PureView sensor camera with a BSI f/2.4 Zeiss lens, dual LED flash, OIS and lossless zoom capability limited to 2x instead of 3x on the Lumia 1020. On the front, there is a 1.2 MP camera for video conference.

The Lumia 1520 will have four microphones, which support stereo audio recording and with Nokia Rich Recording capability. The phone itself offers a 32 GB internal storage and a microSD card slot expandable memory up to 64 GB.

The phablet packs with a large 3,400 mAh battery with build-in Qi wireless charging and support LTE connectivity. The Lumia 1520 will be available in four colors - Black, White, Yellow and Red - and will be rolled out before the end of the year. It will has a retail price of $749 (approximately RM2320).

Nokia Lumia 1520 Details Leaks on Chinese Online Store


Countdown one day before the Nokia World 2013 takes place in Abu Dhabi, the upcoming Nokia's flagship Windows Phone, rumored to be called the Lumia 1520 has pop up on a Chinese online store unveiling almost every single product feature of the device.

Based on the earlier leaks, the phablet Lumia 1520 will spots a large 6 inch Full HD 1920 x 1080 display, powered by the Snapdragon 800 Quad-core processor, 20 MP PureView camera and runs on the Microsoft's latest GDR 3 update for Windows Phone 8. The page stated that the device will be retail for 5,999 Yuan (around RM3,100).

Stay tune for the Nokia World 2013 event, the phablet is expected to be officially announced tomorrow alongside with the Lumia 2520 Windows RT tablet.

Jolla has been teasing its smartphone specifications little by little on their product website. Now seems like the company is ready to reveal the final specifications of the phone and voila, they have updated their website with the full specifications of the phone.

Nokia World 2013 Confirmed, Abu Dhabi October 22nd


Nokia World 2013 officially announced, it will be held in Abu Dhabi on next month - 22nd of October. The upcoming Nokia event is supposed to unveiling the long rumored Lumia phablet and a Windows RT tablet.

First, it is the 6 inch Lumia 1520 phablet, codenamed Bandit. It will be the largest and most powerful Lumia series smartphone ever, featuring a large 6 inch Full HD display and a Snapdragon 800 Quad-core processor.

Alongside the phablet, there will be a Nokia's first ever tablet - the Lumia 2520, codenamed Sirius. A 10.1 inch Windows RT tablet with Full HD display and powered by Snapdragon 800 processor.

Nokia Sirius Tablet to be Called Lumia 2520


Nokia reportedly to launch a Windows RT based tablet, codenamed Sirius at a mystery event next month on October 22nd. According to the latest rumor, the Nokia Sirius tablet will be launch as the Lumia 2520 alongside with the 6 inch Nokia Lumia 1520 phablet, codenamed Bandit.

The Lumia 2520 will spots a 10.1 inch Full HD 1920 x 1080 display, powered by the Snapdragon 800 Quad-core processor, 32 GB of internal storage and a detachable keyboard with build-in battery.

The Sirius tablet will be the first tablet from Nokia runs on Windows RT and it is also rumored to has a price tag of $499 (RM1580).

Jolla Smartphone Specifications Officially Revealed


Jolla has officially announced their first smartphone specifications as promised and it is now available on the company's product website. The mystery of the phone's specs had finally revealed.

Not long ago, Jolla also announced their Sailfish OS achieved Android compatibility which support Android applications. And now, let us see what's under the hood of the Jolla smartphone.

First, the Jolla will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon Dual-core 1.4 GHz processor. Unfortunately, Jolla hasn't revealed which Snapdragon variant is it, however it may be the Snapdragon 400 variant. It features a 16 GB of internal storage with support for microSD cards, 1 GB of ram and a 2100 mAh user-replaceable battery.

The device spots a 4.5 inch Estrade display with qHD 960 x 540 resolution, 8 MP auto focus camera with LED flash and 2 MP front facing camera. The low screen resolution was a disappointment and there is no dedicated physical camera button as well.

The Jolla smartphone will runs on gesture based Sailfish OS and planned to start shipping by the end of 2013.

Jolla - Sailfish OS Based Smartphone is Now Compatible with Android Ecosytem


Jolla is a Finland based smartphone manufacture founded by ex-Nokia employee that continues the work of Nokia abandon MeeGo project. Jolla developed a new operating system (OS) called Sailfish OS which is based on MeeGo OS and the core distribution of Mer project.

The Sailfish OS is a modern OS that based on gesture that similar to the MeeGo based device, Nokia N9. The Sailfish OS was built to be the successor of MeeGo OS and has a better "Swipe" experience with a new user interface.

Recently, Jolla had announced that their Sailfish OS is now compatible with Android ecosystem, in terms of software and hardware compatibility. Which mean, the Jolla device can install the Android Apps and runs it on the Sailfish OS seamlessly.

Nokia Lumia 1520, Quad-core Full HD Windows Phone


Previously, we have been saw the leaked image of a phablet Nokia Lumia codenamed Bandit, which may be called as the Lumia 1520 upon launching. Now, the rumored giant Lumia phone received its first high resolution image leaks.

Looking at the specs of the phone, it is going to be the most powerful Nokia smartphone to date, featuring a large 6 inch display with 1920 x 1080 FHD display, powered by a Quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, expandable memory with an SD slot and using nano-SIM card.

The rear of the device packing a PureView sensor camera that takes photos at 5 MP and 16 MP resolution simultaneously. It has a camera with a hump that's similar to Nokia's Lumia 925.

Microsoft Acquired Nokia's Devices & Services Business

Yesterday, Nokia and Microsoft announced an important news: Mircosoft has purchased Nokia's Devices and Services business with an agreement of
Microsoft is paying EUR 3.79 billion to purchase substantially all of Nokia’s Devices & Services business, and EUR 1.65 billion to license Nokia’s patents, for a total transaction price of EUR 5.44 billion in cash.

Under the agreement Microsoft will acquire substantially all of Nokia's Devices & Services business, including design, production, sales, marketing and related support functions. Which means the “Lumia” and “Asha” portfolio will soon belonged to Microsoft as well but the “Nokia” brand itself still remained to Finnish company. 

The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2014, approximately 32,000 people will be  transfer to Microsoft..Stephen Elop will step down as Nokia's President and CEO to become the company's Executive Vice President for Devices and Service while the transition takes place. While Risto Siilasmaa, the Chairman of the Nokia Board of Directors, will take the role of interim CEO.

Potentially the First Nokia Phablet: Lumia 1520

Not long ago, Nokia had just announced their first big screen Lumia smartphone - the Lumia 625 with a large 4.7 inch screen (the largest screen on current Lumia series). The mid-range Lumia 625 focus on large display and high-speed 4G Internet with an affordable price.


But then, rumor was spreading around that Nokia is working on a phablet Lumia smartphone. The phablet, codenamed Bandit, will features a large 6 inch Full HD display,a polycarbonate body, Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 SoC, 20 MP camera and comes with Windows Phone 8 GDR3.

The latest leaked image of the phablet, seen above is placed next to a Lumia 1020. The 4.5 inch Lumia 1020 look smaller beside the 6 inch phablet.

According to the rumor, Nokia is going to reveal at least two new devices which are their first Windows 8 RT tablet and the Nokia Lumia 1520 phablet at the end of September.

A Space Trip

Sending someone to the space was a incredible mission long ago, now the trend is sending a smartphone to the space, where no smartphone has done before. Actually, this is not something new as Nokia had first send the Lumia 920 to the space.

Nokia Turkey co-operate with CHIP Magazine, a well-known throughout Europe for its extensive hardware testing, wanted to test a smartphone on a extreme conditions at the edge of the space to find out whether it would still work.

The whole journey was recorded, from beginning to end of the experiment. The special test kit housed three Nokia Lumia 920 smartphones, two inside and one outside the kit, and a special camera mounted inside the kit, shooting the Nokia Lumia 920 outside.
