Nokia Launches X Family Smartphones Which Run Android Apps


Nokia officially announced the so called "Nokia Android" phone, formally known as Nokia X - available in three variants: the Nokia X, X+ and XL. The Nokia X family features the company's design, quality, services and inspired by Lumia and Asha family.

The Nokia X family of smartphones run on the Nokia X software platform, which is based on the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) and backed by Nokia with Microsoft service and signature Nokia experiences. Nokia also claims that the Nokia X can runs approximately 75% of Android apps without any modifications and they are ready to published in the Nokia store.


The X will have a 4 inch IPS LCD display with 800 x 480 resolution. It is powered by a 1 GHz Dual-core Snapdragon S4 Play processor with 512 MB of RAM. Featuring 4 GB of expandable storage via microSD card up to 32 GB, 3 MP camera and 1,500 mAh battery, while the X+ sports the same specs but more RAM at 768 MB and included a 4 GB microSD card.


The XL is the largest device between them, sporting a 5 inch IPS LCD display with the same 800 x 480 resoution. It is also powered by a 1 GHz Dual-core Snapdragon S4 Play processor and boasts a 768 MB of RAM. The XL will have 4 GB of expandable storage with 4 GB microSD card included, 5 MP AF main camera, 2 MP front camera and a larger 2,000 mAh battery.

The entire Nokia X family will supports Dual-SIM and including the Nokia's HERE Maps with free navigation and offline maps. The X and X+ will available in bright Green, bright Red, Yellow, Cyan, Black and White, while the XL will be available in bright Green, Orange, Yellow, Cyan, Black and White.

UPDATE: Nokia Malaysia has officially launched the Nokia X with a price tag of RM399.
