Full Specifications of Jolla Phone Revealed


Jolla has been teasing its smartphone specifications little by little on their product website. Now seems like the company is ready to reveal the final specifications of the phone and voila, they have updated their website with the full specifications of the phone.

Lets see on the full specs of the phone:

  • Dual-core 1.4 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor
  • 1 GB of RAM
  • 16 GB of internal storage, expandable via MircoSD card slot
  • Ample 4.5 inch qHD 960 x 540 IPS display
  • 5 point multi-touch with Gorilla Glass 2
  • 8 MP rear camera with LED flash and 2 MP front facing camera
  • Bluetooth 4.0 EDR HS, WLAN, USB2.0 HS, AGPS, GLONASS and HERE maps
  • NFC, power in/out and I2C data connectivity
  • Proximity, accelerometer, gyro, e-compass and ambient light

Jolla - Sailfish OS Based Smartphone is Now Compatible with Android Ecosytem


Jolla is a Finland based smartphone manufacture founded by ex-Nokia employee that continues the work of Nokia abandon MeeGo project. Jolla developed a new operating system (OS) called Sailfish OS which is based on MeeGo OS and the core distribution of Mer project.

The Sailfish OS is a modern OS that based on gesture that similar to the MeeGo based device, Nokia N9. The Sailfish OS was built to be the successor of MeeGo OS and has a better "Swipe" experience with a new user interface.

Recently, Jolla had announced that their Sailfish OS is now compatible with Android ecosystem, in terms of software and hardware compatibility. Which mean, the Jolla device can install the Android Apps and runs it on the Sailfish OS seamlessly.

Another big news for Jolla's fans is that the second batch of production is now opened for pre-orders by this week. So, would you like to pre-order one? Are you a fan of the Jolla too?

Nokia N9 Review

Nokia N9: One of a Kind

Introduction

Nokia N9 was announced on 21 June 2011 at the Nokia Connection event in Singapore. It is the first ever all screen design touch screen phone.The Nokia N9 running on Linux based MeeGo Harmattan mobile operating system. Available in three colours: black, cyan and magenta on initial release, later on white version of N9 was announced on Nokia World 2011.

Another variant model of MeeGo Harmattan device was announced as Nokia N950. It is a developers' phone for Linux based MeeGo Harmattan software and development of the N9. The Nokia N950 uses the same hardware components as the Nokia N9 with the following exceptions:

  • N950 has a slightly larger screen at 4" TFT LCD display, whereas N9 has a 3.9" AMOLED display. Both devices have the screen resolution of 854 x 480.
  • N950 has a physical slide-out QWERTY keyboard, while The Nokia N9 is a touchscreen-only device.
  • N950 is made out of aluminum body, whereas N9 has a polycarbonate unibody.
  • The N950 has a 12 MP camera module but limited to 8 MP resolution, whereas N9 has a 8 MP camera module with Carl Zeiss branding.
  • N950 does not have support for Near Field Communication (NFC).
  • N950 has a 1320 mAh battery, while the Nokia N9 has a 1450 mAh battery.
