Xiaomi Redmi 3 Goes Official with a Metallic Body and Huge 4,100 mAh Battery

The Redmi 3 is Xiaomi's latest budget smartphone and also the first product launched by the company in 2016. The handset cost only 699 Yuan (about RM464) and it will go on sale in China tomorrow, starting at 10am local time on mi.com.

The device sports a 5-inch 720p display and comes with a full metal body. When it comes to the design, the rear of the phone features a lattice design with 4166 stars woven together. The Redmi 3 will comes in four colour options: Gold, Silver and Grey for pattern finish, or just Classic Gold for plain design.

Under the hood, the device is powered by an Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 chipset (4 x 1.5 GHz + 4 x 1.2 GHz), 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage. Camera wise, there's a 13 MP main camera with phase detection autofocus and an f/2.0 lens. As for selfies, you'll get a 5 MP f/2.2 front snapper.

Other specs included a massive 4,100 mAh battery, infrared remote feature, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS and a secondary Nano SIM slot that doubles as a microSD slot (up to 128 GB). The Redmi 3 measuring at 139.3 x 69.6 x 8.5 mm and weighing in at 144 grams.
