Asus Malaysia today has finally announced the world thinnest 3x optical zoom smartphone, the ZenFone Zoom at its Zensation launch event. With the Asus ZenFone Zoom, the Taiwanese manufacturer aim to offer users a pocket-sized DSLR and an ultimate photography experience.
The cameraphone comes with a gorgeous 5.5-inch 1080p IPS display with 178-degree viewing angles and 403 ppi pixel density. On top of that, the screen is protected by a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 4. Under the hood, the device is powered by a mighty 64-bit Quad-core 2.5 GHz Intel Atom Z3590 CPU coupled with 4 GB of RAM as well as 128 GB of expandable storage (up to 64 GB via microSD).
Without further ado, let's talk about the camera. The ZenFone Zoom sports a 13 MP PixelMaster main camera with Panasonic SmartFSI sensor, an f/2.7 to f/4.8 aperture, 10-element Hoya lens and 3x optical zoom. The camera is also supported by a built-in optical image stablization (OIS), laser autofocus plus a dual-LED real tone flash.
In addition, the rear camera boasts a super close-up 5 cm macro shot as well as a professional style Manual mode. On the other hand, the selfie camera is a 5 MP unit with an f/2.0 aperture and wide-angle 88-degree lens with Pano Selfie. One more thing, the phone also comes with a dedicated shutter and video recording button.
The ZenFone Zoom packs a 3,000 mAh battery with Asus' BoostMaster fast-charging technology and will runs on Android 5.0 lollipop with Asus' ZenUI. The device has a metallic body with soft touch leather back and will comes in two colour options: Ceramic White and Pure Black. It will cost you RM2,099 and will be available at the end of January.
