Samsung Shows Off It's First Ever Tizen Smartphone - the Samsung Z


Samsung debuted the industry's first Tizen powered smartphone, dubbed the Samsung Z. The homegrown Tizen OS was first appeared on the Gear 2 smartwatches, and then the original Galaxy Gear smartwatch was switches from Android to Tizen after the latest update.


This Tizen-based smartphone looks alike the Android-based Galaxy S devices, featuring a similar leather back cover with squarish design. The Samsung Z comes with a 4.8 inch HD (1280 x 720) Super AMOLED display, a Quad-core 2.3 GHz CPU, 2 GB RAM, 16 GB of internal storage and a microSD card slot (support up to 64 GB).

The Samsung Z has a decent 8 MP rear camera and a 2.1 MP front shooter. It also support LTE connectivity and equipped with a fingerprint scanner and heart rate sensor beside the LED flash as the Galaxy S5. Inside, there is a 2,600 mAh battery with Ultra Power Saving Mode.


The software wise, the Samsung Z runs on Tizen Operating System with version 2.2.1. It will be available in black and gold on June 3rd at Tizen developer conference in San Francisco. The Samsung Z will launch in Russia in Q3 and other markets shortly thereafter. Unfortunately, Samsung has yet to announced the price of its Tizen smartphone.
