Last year, Google (and Motorola) unveiled the Nexus 6 device. This year rather than just reveal one new phone, Google showed off two: the Nexus 5X and 6P. The giant tech company introducing the latest Nexus devices at the Google event yesterday, both handsets running on the latest Android version of 6.0 Marshmallow.
Huawei Nexus 6P
First and foremost, the new Nexus 6P is manufactured by collaboration with Huawei. It has an all metal chassis, the smartphone is constructed from aeronautical-grade aluminium. The Nexus 6 sports a large 5.7-inch Quad HD (2560 x 1440) AMOLED display with Gorilla Glass 4 for added protection against scratches.
The Nexus 6 relying on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset as it powerhouse. The smartphone will comes with 3 GB of LPDDR4 RAM and internal storage of either 32 GB, 64 GB or 128 GB. The Nexus 6 will features dual front-facing speakers and 3 microphones with noise cancellation.
On the rear of the device, there's a slightly protruded large, black bar on the top that houses the 12.3 MP rear camera. Beside the camera and dual-tone LED flash, there's a laser autofocus module and antennas hidden under the black plastic bar. The 12.3 MP camera features a f/2.0 aperture with 1.55-micron pixels and capable of 4K video recording.
Other specs included an 8 MP front-facing shooter with f/2.4 aperture and 1.4-micron pixels, fingerprint sensor, USB Type-C port, NFC, Bluetooth 4.2, LTE connectivity, Nano SIM and a large 3,450 mAh battery.
LG Nexus 5X
On the other, the second Nexus device, Google once again allied with LG to build the new Nexus 5X. The Nexus 5X has a much more compact size, with a 5.2-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080) and protected by a layer of Gorilla Glass 3. The handset sports an unibody polycarbonate housing and weighs at 136 grams.
As for the processing power, the Nexus 5X is powered by the Hexa-core 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor clocked at 1.8 GHz. There's a 2 GB of LPDDR3 RAM inside and a non-expandable storage of 16 GB or 32 GB. It will comes with a single front-facing speaker and 3 microphones with noise cancellation.
The same 12.3 MP rear camera found in the 6P is here too, which means it shares those great features with a large 1.55-micron pixels, f/2.0 aperture, dual-tone LED flash, laser autofocus and able to capture 4K video. You'll also get a 5 MP selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture and 1.4-micron pixels.
Below the rear camera lens, there's also a fingerprint reader and it will also comes with a USB Type-C charging port. Other specs included NFC, Bluetooth 4.2, LTE connectivity, Nano SIM and a 2,700 mAh build-in battery.
