Microsoft Surface Pro 3 is the Company Largest Tablet with 12-inch Display, Yet Slimmer and Lighter


On Tuesday, Microsoft announced the third generation of its Surface family tablet at a launch event in New York. Surprisingly, Microsoft break its tradition by introducing a larger Surface - the 12-inch Surface Pro 3, instead of 10.6 inch that found on the previous two generation Surface Pro.

Like its predecessor, the Surface Pro 3 will supports pen input and an improved Type Cover that transform it from tablet to laptop. The Surface Pro 3 has a 12 inch ClearType Full HD plus display with 2160 x 1440 resolution, an aspect ratio of 3:2 and powered by 4th generation Intel Core processor.


This slate measures just 9.1 mm thick, making it the thinnest Intel Core based device ever made. In addition, it is also lightweight at 800 g as compared to 907 g of the Surface Pro 2. The Surface Pro 3 is now equipped with stereo speakers which claims to be 45% louder than previous Surface tablets.

The third generation model has a new kickstand on the back that features multiple positions up to an angle of 150 degrees. The Surface Pro 3 will comes with a full size USB 3.0 port, Mini Display port and MicroSD card reader. You'll also get a 5 MP camera on both of its front and rear, together with stereo microphones.


The Surface Pro 3 will offering configurations of Core i3, i5 and i7 processor with 4 GB or 8 GB of RAM and storage options from 64 GB to 512 GB.  It will be available from June 20 in the US and has a price tag starting from USD799 (around RM2,566) for the i3 model.
