The Mi Pad is Xiaomi's First Tablet and Featuring Nvidia Tegra K1 Processor


The Chinese company, Xiaomi had just unveiled the company's first tablet, named Mi Pad in a launch event held in Beijing. Besides that, this new slate is also the world's first tablet to feature the powerful Tegra K1 SoC from Nvidia.

The Mi Pad runs on Android 4.4 with Xiaomi's MIUI. It comes with a 7.9 inch IPS Retina display with a 4:3 aspect ratio, having a high resolution of 2048 x 1536 which gives a sharp 326 ppi density. On top of that, the screen featuring a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for scratch-resistant and protection.


Under the hood, the Mi Pad is powered by a 2.2 GHz Quad-core Tegra K1 CPU with a fifth power-saver core along with a 192-core Kepler GPU. It's then paired with 2 GB of RAM, 16 or 64 GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot (support up to additional 128 GB), stereo speakers and a built-in 6,700 mAh battery.

You'll find a f/2.0 8 MP camera on the rear and a 5 MP camera on the front. This slate measured at 202.1 x 135.4 x 8.5 mm and weighs at 360 g. The Mi Pad has a glossy plastic body with six colour options: Pink, Lemon Yellow, Cyan, Apple Green, White and Black.



The connectivity wise, it will support the usual Bluetooth 4.0 and 802.11ac WiFi, no 3G or LTE version announced just yet. Unfortunately, there's no word on the Mi Pad global availability, but it will be available in China starting from June priced at CN¥1,499 (around RM775) and CN¥1,699 (RM880) for 16 GB and 64 GB, respectively.

UPDATE: The Mi Pad will be available in Malaysia on 10 Feb 2015 with a price tag of RM799 (16 GB).
