LG Unveils the G2 Mini

Last week, LG showed off the G Pro 2 smartphone ahead of MWC 2014; And now, less than a week before the major event, LG once again officially announced a smaller version of its current Android flagship: the G2 mini.

If you were expecting LG to packs all the goodies of the flagship G2 into the G2 mini as what Sony did to its Z1 Compact, you might be disappointed. LG abandon the powerful Snapdragon 800 processor for a choice between Snapdragon 400 or Nvidia Tegra 4i SoC. Both will have 1.2 GHz Quad-core CPU and 1 GB of RAM.

The G2 mini features a 4.7 inch display with a low 960 x 540 qHD resolution. The design wise, it sports the same design language as the LG G2 with volume and power button are placed below the rear camera. It has an 8 MP rear camera, 1.3 MP front facing camera, 8 GB of internal storage, microSD card slot and a user-removable 2,440 mAh battery.

The device runs on Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box and comes with Knock-to-unlock and Guess Mode features. The G2 mini will be release in Russia from March and followed by April in Europe, Asia, Middle East and Latin America.
