Sony Announces Xperia Z1 Compact - the Premium Compact Design Smartphone


The best of Sony technologies is now packs inside a pocket-friendly compact smartphone. Here at CES 2014, Sony introduces the Xperia Z1 Compact - Yes, it's the mini version of the flagship Xperia Z1; instead, it will not be called the Z1 mini or Z1 f.

The Z1 Compact is almost identical to the original Z1 packing the same Quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor clocked at 2.2 GHz, the same 20.7 MP camera, dust-resistant and waterproof design, with a 4.3 inch screen and attractive color options of black, white, lime and pink.


What's different in the compact version of Z1 is the screen size shrinking down from 5 to 4.3 inches, a drop from 1080p to 720p, but this time the display opts for IPS panel which improved the viewing angle issue. Next, the Z1 Compact comes with a smaller 2,300 mAh battery, down from 3,000 mAh battery in its siblings.

Other specs included 4.3 inch HD Trilunimos display with X-Reality Engine, 16 GB of internal storage with microSD card slot, NFC, 4G LTE and runs on Android 4.3 out of the box. The Xperia Z1 Compact is scheduled to rolls out globally from February 2014.


UPDATE: Sony Malaysia revealed the price for the Xperia Z1 Compact, retail at RM1,699.
