Huawei Wraps off the MediaPad X1 and MediaPad M1 Tablets


Huawei announced two new members to its MediaPad family at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2014 with the introduction of MediaPad X1 and MediaPad M1. First of all, the MediaPad X1 (image above) is the world's slimmest 7 inch tablet with LTE Cat4-enabled tablet.

The Huawei MediaPad X1 features an aluminum body casing with ultra-slim 7.18 mm and weighs about 239 g. It has a 7 inch Full HD (1920 x 1080) IPS display which achieved an 80% screen-to-body ratio.

The tablet packing Huawei's own HiSilicon Kirin 910 1.6 GHz Quad-core processor paired with a Mali-450 MP4 GPU. Backing up with 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage with expandable memory via microSD card slot up to 32 GB.


There is a 13 MP rear camera with Sony Exmor RS BSI sensor featuring a large f/2.2 aperture and 28 mm wide-angle lens. On the front, you will get a 5 MP camera with f/2.4 22 mm wide-angle lens.

The MediaPad X1 has a built-in 5,000 mAh battery that claims for 5 days of normal usage and comes with reverse charging. Moreover, the MediaPad X1 also comes with telephony function which work as your normal phones and offers an ultra-fast 4G LTE connectivity.

Up next, the other tablet that announced by Huawei at MWC - the MediaPad M1. The Huawei MediaPad M1 is an 8 inch tablet with IPS screen and 1280 x 800 resolution. It is also made in aluminum, but the M1 is heavier than the X1 at 329 g and slightly thicker at 7.9 mm.


The MediaPad M1 also features the same HiSilicon Kirin 910 1.6 GHz Quad-core processor which is also supporting the LTE Cat4 network at the speed of 150 Mbps. However, it has only 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of internal storage which is still support microSD card of up to 32 GB.

In addition, the MediaPad M1 is packed with a dual front-facing stereo speakers. It is also equipped with a 5 MP rear camera and a 1 MP front facing camera. Underneath the device, there's a built-in 4,800 mAh battery.


Both MediaPad X1 and M1 will run on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean with Huawei's Emotion UI 2.0. The MediaPad X1 will be available in Black, White, Champagne and Light Pink from March in China, Russia, Japan, Middle East, Western Europe and Latin America.

While the MediaPad M1 will be available in Balck and White from first quarter 2014 in China, Russia, Japan, Europe, Asia Pacific, Australia, Middle East and Latin America.

UPDATE: The pricing for both tablets in Europe is 399 euros (around RM1,808) for MediaPad X1 and 299 euros (around RM1,355) for MediaPad M1.

UPDATE: The Huawei MediaPad X1 retail at RM1,399 (LTE) / RM1,299 (3G) and MediaPad M1 at RM1,099 (LTE) / RM899 (3G).
