Sony Debuted New Xperia X Series Smartphones to Reimaged its Xperia Brand

Xperia X Series

Sony make a surprise announcement at MWC 2016, launching a new line of its Xperia smartphones. The new Xperia X series comes in three models: the lower-end Xperia XA,  the regular Xperia X and the top-tier Xperia X Performance.

The Japanese company aims to bring next generation technologies in camera, battery and design with the Xperia X series. All three devices will feature Qnovo's adaptive charging technology which tracks battery usage pattern and offers up to two days of battery life.

Xperia X Gold

The Xperia X Performance and Xperia X comes with the next generation camera technology, packing Sony's 1/2.3-inch 23 MP Exmor RS sensor (24 mm wide-angle f/2.0 G lens) and uses a new Predictive Hybrid Autofocus developed by Sony's camera experts to predict the subjects motion and keep them in focus. Besides that, you can also take low-light selfies thanks to the 13 MP front-facing sensor with 22 mm wide-angle f/2.0 lens .

Both the Xperia X Performance and Xperia X have a 5-inch Full HD 1080p Triluminos display, 3 GB  RAM and a fingerprint sensor power button. The Xperia X Performance features a Snapdragon 820 processor, 32 GB of internal storage, waterproof feature plus a 2,700 mAh battery. On the other hand, the Xperia X sports a Snapdragon 650 processor, 32 GB (single-SIM) or 64 GB (dual-SIM) of storage depends on the SIM variants and a 2,620 mAh battery.

Xperia XA Colour Range

Last but not least, the Xperia XA also has a 5-inch screen but drops the display to 720p resolution. The phone is powered by a 64-bit MediaTek MT6755 Octa-core processor and paired with 2 GB of RAM. It will has 16 GB of internal storage, 13 MP rear camera with hybrid autofocus, 8 MP wide-angle lens selfie camera and a 2,300 mAh battery.

All the trio smartphones will support microSD card (up to 200 GB) and run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box. They will be available in four colours: White, Lime Gold, Rose Gold and Black. They are scheduled to launch in the Summer 2016 and pricing has yet to be announced.

UPDATE 9/6/2016: Sony Malaysia has officially launched the Xperia X series in Malaysia with Xperia X, Xperia XA and Xperia XA Ultra. The Xperia X priced at RM2,499 and comes with 3 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage. On the other hand, the Xperia XA Ultra and Xperia XA carry a price tag of RM1,699 and RM1,199 respectively.

The Xperia X and Xperia XA will be available from 22 June onwards, while the Xperi XA Ultra is schedule to be released in Malaysia next month in July.
