Alongside the Redmi Note 3, Xiaomi also unveiled the new Mi Pad 2 - the successor to the original Mi Pad. The updated model has a more premium feel, thanks to the full metal body design and it's slimmer and lighter than its predecessor.
Speaking of which, the new Mi Pad 2 is now has an all-aluminium body that is only 6.95 mm thick compared to the 8.5 mm of the previous model, which is 18% thinner than before. At the same time, the Mi Pad 2 is 38 grams lighter despite having a full metal body.
Instead of a Nvidia processor, Xiaomi opts for an Intel chipset for the Mi Pad 2. The tablet is powered by a new 14 nm Intel Atom X5-Z8500 64-bit Quad-core processor clocked at 2.24 GHz, paired with an Intel HD Graphics GPU and 2 GB of LPDDR3 RAM. In addition, the Mi Pad 2 will comes in two storage sizes: 16 GB or 64 GB.
The rest of the specifications include a 7.9-inch display with 2048 x 1536 resolution and 326 ppi, 8 MP rear camera, 5 MP front shooter, a smaller 6,190 mAh battery (while the original Mi Pad has a 6,700 mAh cell) that supports fast charging and has the new USB Type-C port.
As expected, Xiaomi once again offers a very competitive price tag for the Mi Pad 2. The new tablet priced at CNY999 (about RM660) and CNY1,299 (about RM858) for the 16 GB and 64 GB versions respectively. The Mi Pad 2 will be available in Dark Grey and Champagne Gold. It will be released in China on the 27th of November.
