The Japanese company has revealed the successor to the Xperia C4 with the introduction of the Xperia C5 Ultra. Just like its predecessor, the Xperia C5 Ultra is a device targeted at selfie lovers. The new PROselfie smartphone comes with two 13 MP front and rear cameras features Exmor RS sensor and HDR for both picture and video.
As a selfie-centric smartphone and together with other Xperia C-series devices, Sony added a front-facing LED flash to help capture the perfect selfie in low-light condition. Sony point out that the Xperia C5 Ultra's flash is square instead of round, which will lights up more of the frame. The front shooter also features a 22 mm wide-angle lens and 88-degree field of view.
Sony Xperia C5 Ultra comes with a super-thin bezel, near borderless 6-inch (1920 x 1080) Full HD display featuring IPS technology and Mobile Bravia Engine 2. Sony also offers a one-handed operation mode with 'mini mode' that shrink the screen to 4-inches. It has an aluminium frame with Sony's OmniBalance design language and a slightly curved back.
Under the hood, there's a MediaTek MT6752 SoC with 64-bit Octa-core CPU clocked at 1.7 GHz and paired with 2 GB of RAM. Other specs included a 16 GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot (support up to 200 GB), a speaker capable of up to 95 decibels, LTE connectivity, NFC and an "up to 2-day" 2,930 mAh battery.
The Xperia C5 Ultra will runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box and available in three colours: White, Black and Mint. It will be launch in mid-August in selected countries and pricing has yet to be announced.
UPDATE - 4/9/2015: Sony Xperia C5 Ultra Dual is now available in Malaysia and priced at RM1,399.
