TCL Announces the Idol X+ Smartphone Packs a 2GHz Octa-core SoC and Bluetooth Activity Tracker

It's end of the year but it doesn't stop the TCL forks in China - aka Alcatel brand in many other countries - have official launched the Idol X+ smartphone. The new phone is the successor to the previous launched Idol X at Mobile World Congress earlier this year.

The Idol X+ is the first ever device to equip with the 2 GHz Octa-core MediaTek MT6592 processor  (boosted from 1.2 GHz Quad-core found in the Idol X)  and paired with 2 GB of RAM, which probably is an exclusive deal the company with MediaTek.

The device has the same 5 inch 1920 x 1080 IPS display with a slimmer 1.9 mm bezel, a 13 MP f/2.0 rear camera and due to the larger 2,500 mAh battery, the Idol X+ is now slightly thicker at 7.9 mm.

The Idol X+ priced just CN¥1,999 or around RM1,090, which also included a Bluetooth activity plus sleep tracker called the Boom band. It has a proximity alarm that rings when you accidentally leave your phone behind. Unfortunately, there's no word on the availability of the device outside its native country. To be available on January 15th in China.

UPDATE: The Alcatel One Touch Idol X+ launched in Malaysia for RM1,299 bundled with the Boom band smartband.
