Upcoming Samsung Smartphones 2014 May Feature 4GB of RAM
Two days before 2014, Samsung has just announced the first 8 gigabit (Gb), low power double data rate 4 (LPDDR4), mobile DRAM, which delivers the highest level of performance available today. Enabling end users to have responsive applications and faster multitasking experience with a data transfer rate per pin of 3,200 megabits per second (Mbps).
The 8 Gb LPDDR4 memory chip is manufactured on 20 nanometer (nm) class process technology that capable to fits 1 GB on a single die. Combining four of the 8 Gb chips could offers a single 4 GB LPDDR4 package, which means, our future smartphone might equip with 4 GB of RAM.
Overall, the new LPDDR4 chip will provide 50% performance boost over the LPDDR3 chip, yet consume 40% less energy at 1.1 volts. According to Samsung, the chip is targeted for laptop, smartphone and tablet with Ultra HD display, where additional memory is needed for powering all those extra pixels and high performance network systems.
