Oppo R1 Smartphone with 5 inch 720p Display and 8MP f/2.0 Camera


Oppo, the Chinese manufacturer announced the R1 - a new mid-range Android smartphone. The R1 smartphone carries a gold-effect metal frame body which gives a premium and solid build quality to the phone.

The Oppo R1 sporting a 5 inch 1280 x 720 HD IPS display, on top of that, the screen is protected by a layer of Gorilla Glass 3. The device is powered by a Quad-core MediaTek MT6582 processor clocked at 1.3 GHz, 1 GB of RAM and 16 GB of non-expandable storage.

The R1 comes with a bright 8 MP rear camera with f/2.0 wide aperture, which claims by the company, it is capable to capture excellent images in low light condition with Oppo own Pure Image technology.

In addition, there's a 5 MP front facing camera and the smartphone will runs on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean based on Color OS out of the box. The R1 will supports dual-SIM connectivity and weighs at 140 g with a 2,140 mAh battery.

Oppo R1 priced at CN¥2,498 (around $410) on the company's online store. Unfortunately, there is no word on the global availability of the device at this moment.

UPDATE: In addition to the N1, Oppo Malaysia also announces the R1. The Oppo R1 will retail at RM1,298.
