The wait is finally over, as HTC debuted its latest flagship smartphone, the HTC One (M8) in a launch event in London and New York yesterday night. As predicted, the new HTC One (M8) sports a larger display and equipped with the fastest processor available today. In a nutshell, the all-new One is a major upgrade from its predecessor.
What come in my mind when I first saw the new HTC One (M8) is it looks just the same as the last year's One. However, the Taiwanese company claimed that the phone is made from even more metal, about 90% of the chassis is aluminum, compared to 70% for the last year's HTC One (aka the M7).
The HTC One (M8) features a 5 inch Full HD display and the screen is protected by a scratch resistant Gorilla Glass 3. Under the hood, you'll get a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 Quad-core processor (2.5 GHz version for Asian/China while 2.3 GHz version for USA/EMEA) and backup with 2 GB of RAM.
On the rear of the phone, there's a Duo Camera which the primary camera sits in regular spot with the same 4 MP "UltraPixel" camera found on the HTC One (M7); The secondary lens, which is placed direct above the primary lens, only capture depth information for creating special effects and has a faster auto-focus time in just 0.3 seconds.
On the front, you'll get a 5 MP wide-angle front facing camera and also the signature HTC BoomSound dual front facing stereo speakers with built-in amplifiers. The enhanced sound system creates powerful, crystal-clear sound with rich tones and delivers 25% louder sound than the HTC One (M7).
Other specs included 16/32 GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot (support up to 128 GB), dual-tone LED flash, nano-SIM card, NFC, LTE and a 2,600 mAh battery with fast charge feature. The HTC One (M8) will run on Android 4.4 with HTC Sense 6 and available in three colors: Gunmetal Gray, Glacial Silver and Amber Gold.
UPDATE: HTC One (M8) finally arrived in Malaysia and priced at RM2,399.
